Stedy: Non-powered patient transport device

Key Points:
The ARJO Stedy allows the patient to simply and safely stand themselves, ready for transfers to the toilet, chair or wheelchair, eliminating the need for a hazardous, manual-handling task.

Smooth Moves is a hospital wide initiative designed to decrease staff injury and provide safe patient handling. Patient Handling Policy CL 30-04.02 guides the program. Designated champions, who provide ongoing training and expertise for the unit staff, support smooth Moves at the unit level. To decrease the manual handling of patients, mechanical lifting equipment and patient handling aids are available in patient care areas. Tools to aid the caregiver in the selection of the proper device to safely move, reposition or transfer patients include an initial patient assessment and algorithms.
For questions and assistance regarding safe patient handling or equipment call Occupational Health Clinic at (615) 936-0955.
