Accidental Death & Dismemberment

Provides a benefit for specific catastrophic injuries or for death caused by an accident.

Flexible Reimbursement Account

Funds that can be used as reimbursement for eligible health care, dental, and vision expenses not covered under the medical plans, including after tax premiums for health, AD&D, and dental. This account is a benefit after five continuous years of full time employment and health insurance coverage. If a faculty or staff member waives coverage under the Vanderbilt health care coverage, they also waive the right to this account, and any remaining balance. Reinstating the flexible reimbursement account will require the five-year eligibility wait.

Health Care

Vanderbilt provides a choice in health care plans. Eligible employees may choose from Blue Cross Preferred PPO (preferred provider plan); United Healthcare HMO (health maintenance organization plan); and Vanderbilt Preferred PPO (Signature Alliance Network preferred provider plan). A faculty or staff member may elect to waive healthcare coverage upon providing proof of coverage elsewhere. If a faculty or staff member waives a coverage under a Vanderbilt health care plan, they also waive the right to the flexible reimbursement account (FRA), and any remaining balance.
