FEDERAL PARENT (PLUS) LOANS

Please click here for information regarding PLUS loan-terms and conditions. You should carefully read the instructions below and contact our office should you have any questions.

New Borrowers

Note: A new borrower is a parent who has not borrowed through the Federal PLUS Loan program for the particular Vanderbilt student in question.

The following includes information describing the Federal PLUS Loan process for a new borrower:

1. In item 4 below, you will click a link and be directed to our Loan Lender Options page where you will be asked to select a lender. These companies have been listed because their services are exemplary and because these companies provide competitive borrower benefits.

2. Once you have selected a lender from the list, you will be directed to the lender's website to complete a PLUS Master Promissory Note, have the loan pre-approved based upon the parent borrower's credit history, and provide the requested loan amount. Should you have questions regarding the maximum loan amount that may be borrowed or other PLUS questions, please send an e-mail to our office at: loans@vanderbilt.edu

Once the PLUS loan has been approved by the selected lender, the Office of Student Financial Aid will receive notification and we will complete our portion of the process.

3. Please download the Vanderbilt Undergraduate Cash Management form by clicking here. This form, which should be completed and submitted to our office, will authorize the Vanderbilt Office of Student Accounts to apply the PLUS Loan proceeds to your student's account based upon your preferences.

4. If you are ready to continue the process, please click here to proceed to the Federal PLUS Loan Lender Options page.
