From the Director of Undergraduate Studies

We welcome you to the Economics Major and related programs. The Department has recruited faculty committed to offering a first-class undergraduate program and a life of scholarship. Their personal research demonstrates their intellectual energy. Each year the faculty of the Department publish more than four dozen original essays and often a new book or two. There are experts here on many issues in economics.

The number of faculty who have won teaching awards illustrates effectiveness in instruction. The range of elective courses offered indicates the faculty members’ imagination and breadth of interest.

The faculty also have interests outside the classroom from photography and woodworking to athletics and travel. As you take courses in this Department, we hope you will come to know the faculty as people as well as scholars. In this spirit, we hope you find your course of study to be intellectually challenging and personally rewarding.
