WHAT'S the difference between ECON 270 AND 280?

econ 270 is a new class starting fall 2007 designed to handle the major enrollment overflow from sports econ 280.

the subject matter is the same for now, but expect more breadth in 270 and more depth in 280.

ECON 270 & 280 cannot both be taken for credit at this time, but in the future (one or two years) they will probably become separate classes and 270 will become a pre-req for 280.

econ 270 has a strict pre-req of econ 150 and econ 231 (completed) and will have about 50 students . THERE ARE two mid-terms and a final exam with no term paper/project. juniors and econ minors may take the 270 class if there is room and they survive the bumping process.

econ 280 has the same pre-reqs 150 and 231, but ECON 280 is only for senior econ majors. the 280 seminar will have about 18-20 students and have two midterms and a final paper/project instead of a final exam. non-senior non-econ majors will be booted from econ 280.

both econ 270 and 280 students are welcome to attend sports econ lab on fridays.
