This is the University of North Texas, USA, ‘environmental ethics’ home page, part of their ‘centre for environmental philosophy’ website.  This is a worthwhile site to explore, with great links and resources.  The site includes information on environmental ethics and environmental philosophy as academic fields of study.  There are many useful links to other web-based resources on environmental ethics.

The ‘Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy’ entry on environmental ethics briefly discusses the challenges, early development and politics of both traditional and contemporary ethical theories as well as developing trends in the field.  The information is presented on a single web-page offering ease of access, with full bibliography for works cited.

Gadfly aims to be a space ‘where philosophy and ethics meet environmental decision-making’.  The site offers an introduction to Environmental Ethics by Professor Ernest Partridge.

The green fuse is a website on the subject of environmental philosophy dedicated to ‘bringing philosophy to life’.  The site offers useful links and a description of key topics in environmental ethics, such as deep ecology, eco-feminism, spirituality and ecology.  Most novel is the sites engagement with the critiques of the key issues in environmental ethics and their attendance to the perspective of Social Ecology, rarely mentioned on other sites.

The ‘International Society for Environmental Ethics (ISEE)’ homepage. The society formed mainly within the US, UK and Australia in 1990, and is philosophy based.  They offer a monthly newsletter for a nominal annual membership fee.  The website is hosted by the University of North Texas Centre for Environmental Philosophy.

An example of applied environmental ethics, the ‘Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics’ state their mission as “to forge a socially responsible value system for the Forest Service based on a land ethic that ensures ecologically and economically sustainable resource management.”

The site ‘Ethics Updates’ is “dedicated to promoting the thoughtful discussion of difficult moral issues”.
The site offers ‘multimedia resources on Environmental Ethics’, including web-page links, NPR discussion of related issues, environmental ethics articles accessible online and a survey of philosophical literature on environmental ethics.  The site is run by philosophers based at Oregon State & Carleton College, Minnesota, in conjunction with ‘the Values Institute’ at University of San Diego, California, USA.

The ISEE website offers what they assert is ‘the largest bibliography available on environmental ethics’.  They offer over 17,000 references, from the major environmental ethics journals and key texts.  The bibliography can be searched using terms, and offers fairly comprehensive references on the major issues in environmental ethics.  The bibliography is available for download in pdf format and available by cd on request.

The ‘Environmental Ethics Syllabus Project’ offers “information about courses in environmental philosophy and environmental ethics”.  The site provides links to courses offered by institutions around the USA, includes syllabi, textbooks, instructor’s names and, where available, web-page link or contact details.  Maintained by a professor of philosophy at Middle Tennessee State University through the support of the International Association for Environmental Philosophy (IAEP) and the International Society for Environmental Ethics (ISEE).

‘Ethics, Place & Environment’ is a journal of philosophy and geography published by Routledge, UK.  This journal aims to engage philosophical work on ‘all aspects of geographical and environmental ethics’ – ‘human and natural, built and wild’.  Writings are said to come from environmental philosophy, cultural geography, applied environmental ethics, animal rights, justice in urban society, development ethics, cartography, and cultural values relevant to environmental concerns.
