Patricia Conway

Patricia ConwayPatricia is a third year graduate student in the Community Research and Action Ph.D. program at Vanderbilt.  Her Ph.D. minor is in the study of ethics and justice. Her current research interests are in the area of food security and environmental justice more broadly.   Patricia read for a degree in Psychology at Stirling University, Scotland, U.K. where she obtained a B.Sc. (Hons) Psychology in 1997.    Patricia worked as a National Health Service (NHS) based researcher for 7 years before returning to her post-graduate studies. Patricia is a community-based action-researcher in the field of critical community psychology.

Patricia is working with the Center for Ethics in 2006-2007 to build curriculum in the areas of environmental ethics and environmental justice.  This work is bringing more than 20 faculty members from around the university together to develop an inter-disciplinary environmental studies program for the undergraduate student body.  The Center also co-sponsors Patricia’s ongoing work with the TIES (Trans-disciplinary Initiative in Environmental Systems) project at Vanderbilt, through which she developed and co-teaches a graduate level course titled ‘Perspectives in Environmental Justice and Politics: Yucca Mountain’.
