Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee |
| DESCRIPTION: | Radnor Lake State Natural Area is located very close to he Vanderbilt Campus and is a beautiful site for hiking and observing nature. The land was acquired by the Tennessee Department of Conservation in 1973 as a state natural area and is intended as a wildlife sanctuary, not a park for extensive recreational use. Due to its size, much activity would disturb the natural habitat, therefore hiking is allowed, but picnicking, camping, and canoeing are not. This is a beautiful place to come visit for a quick half-day walk through the woods, and is conveniently located close to campus. |
| DIRECTIONS: | Turn left onto Blakemore Drive from 21st Avenue just after passing Pizza Perfect. Follow Blakemore (which becomes Wedgewood) until you reach 12th Avenue. Turn right onto 12th. 12th becomes Granny White Pike. Follow Granny White across Harding Place and look for a red brick convenience store on the left. Turn left there onto Otter Creek Road. You will pass through a residential area, and then the park will be right there. Otter Creek Road runs right through the park. |
| CAUTIONS: | The Radnor Lake area is not meant for extensive use in an attempt to preserve the order of the natural environment for the plants and animals that inhabit the region. Please try to leave the area how you found it, being careful not to disturb the environment where you walk. Have fun and enjoy the scenery, buy remember that it is home for many different species not just a place for you to enjoy. |
