LOVE HILL

1/2 Mile from Vanderbilt (East)

DESCRIPTION: Love Circle, or Love Hill as it is more commonly known, offers one of the best views of downtown Nashville, Vanderbilt University, and the rest of Davidson County. The hill is actually a man-made water storage reservoir covered with grass, and has for years been the romantic overlook of choice for Nashvillians, young and old alike. Wander up here for the sunrise or sunset and you won't be disappointed, the view is absolutely spectacular!
DIRECTIONS: Turn Left on Natchez Trace from West End Avenue (between Wendy's and the West End Amoco). Cross over Blakemore and take the second right onto Belcourt Road. At the top of the hill, turn left onto 32nd Avenue South. After the stop sign, take the double-back turn to the right, and park at the top of the hill around Love Circle. There are steps up the hill on the south side. Climb to the top and check out the view for miles around.
CAUTIONS: Watch out for broken glass bottles as you climb the hill. Also, the hill is steep and can be very slippery in places, especially some of the walls and steps. Another warning of caution: the hill is not always a pleasant peaceful place. Some masochistic coaches sent their teams sprinting up the hill for training, and thrive on seeing the athletes pass out with exhaustion. This is not a pretty sight, especially if you are participating. All joking aside, this is a beautiful place.
