Vanderbilt Women's Soccer
Purpose
The women's club soccer, founded in the fall of 2002, has had two very successful seasons thus far. Our main objective is to provide a competitive soccer environment for women of the Vanderbilt community. Women's club soccer is a great opportunity for Vanderbilt women who desire to continue playing a competitive sport after high school, but who maybe want more free time than would be allotted by intercollegiate sports to pursue the various other extracurricular activities around campus that many of our girls are highly involved in. We strongly encourage anyone with any interest to come out to one of our practices to knock the ball around and meet our team.
Practice/Competition
We practice Tuesdays and Thursdays 5-7 in both the fall and the spring, and 7-9 Sundays during the fall. Each year we travel to Clemson for their Socctoberfest tournament in October which always ends up being a great time with lots of great competition. In addition, we've traveled to our regional qualifying tournament, which we plan to make an annual event. Also, we've traveled to Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi to play matches. While we are slightly more lax in the spring, we have a very busy fall schedule, with two to three weekends of traveling, and one or two home games so women's club soccer can be quite a large commitment, but really it can be what you make of it because we don't require attendance at every single practice. We generally go by the simple rule that whoever comes to practice will play in the games and travel to the tournaments.
