Purpose
The rowing club was started in 1985 by a group of students who were determined to bring the sport of rowing to the Vanderbilt community. Since then the club has continued to grow in size and has gained recognition as a competitive crew in the southeastern United States. Membership numbers vary, but on average the club consists of about 30-40 members.
Practice/Competition
The team competes in both the fall and spring seasons, attending approximately 4 regattas per season throughout the southeast. Members attend early morning practice starting at 5am 3-4 days during the week and at 9am on Saturdays when no regattas are scheduled, they also engage in land workouts consisting of cardio, weight training and workouts on rowing machines.
