Kindermusik Summer Adventure Classes
Sponsored by the Blair School of Music

Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University offers this nationally acclaimed music program for children birth through age six. Turn an ordinary summer into an extraordinary journey with theme-based classes where your child will discover the joy of music, movement, dance, drama and craft-making. Each class meets 5 times and includes Home Materials-complete with CD, an instrument, and follow-up activities for enrichment at home. Registration begins April 7, 2008. Classes may not be pro-rated; a make-up class will be provided for all sessions.

Peekaboo, I Love You!
This class incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement. A unique blend of multi-level activities that include creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration, as well as a colorful literature component, will stimulate your baby's growth and development as all of his senses are engaged.
Ages: Newborn to 18 mos. with a parent or caregiver
Dates: Wednesdays, June 4-July 2, 10:00am or 1:00pm; or Saturdays, June 7-July5, 11:30 am; 45-minute class for 5 weeks
Cost: $120 + $40 registration fee

Sign and Sing
A different approach from other sign language programs. Through songs, toys, and loving playtime between you and your child, Kindermusik Sign and Sing shows you more than 50 signs your child can use to communicate with you. You'll easily substitute American Sign Language (ASL) signs in familiar songs, improving you child's language skills, fine motor skills, and strengthen fingers for zipping zippers and using scissors.
Ages: 6 months to 3 years with a parent or caregiver
Dates: Tuesdays, June 3-July 1, 9:30am; 45-minute class for 5 weeks

Zoo Train!
Your toddler and the train make a natural match-always on the move. Bring your own stuffed animals for the petting zoo. Wear long white socks on your hands for polar bear paws. Sing songs for clapping time and use music to help toddlers regulate emotions. This one on one time will give your toddler the love and attention he/she craves.
Ages: 18 months to 3 years with a parent or caregiver
Dates: Wednesdays, June 4-July 2, 9:00am or 11:00am or Thursdays, June 5-July 3, 6:00pm or Saturdays, June 7-July 5: 9:30am; 45-minute class for 5 weeks

Confetti Days!
Join Ms. Amy as she throws a different party every day! Ride a carousel inside the classroom; play a balancing game and walk on the web of ropes; learn colors and sing the Spanish song "De Colores"; do a musical move and freeze. Your child will experience an integrated learning approach where music is interwoven with art, language, drama, and storytelling.
Ages: 3 and 4 years
Dates: Wednesdays, June 4-July 2, 12 noon or Thursdays, June 5-July 3, 5:00pm; 45-minute class for 5 weeks
Cost: $120 + $40 registration fee

Around the World
Each class features a different folk tale from around the world. Children will sing, dance, play instruments and make crafts as they explore each culture. This musical global journey will include South Africa, India, Malaysia, Germany, and Appalachia. Sure to be a memorable trip for your child without even leaving home! Parents join for the last 15 minutes.
Ages: 5 and 6 years
Dates: July 21-25, 11:00am; 2-hour class daily for 5 sessions
Cost: $250 + $40 registration fee

Kindermusik Family Time
Each week you'll discover how music helps your family laugh together, share, and take turns...all in the hands of a trained expert-a licensed Kindermusik Educator-who takes you through this multi-age, multi-child class, where you'll find musical and developmental learning in a fun, family environment!
Ages: For families with TWO children, infant and up
Dates: Tuesdays, June 3-July 1, 5:15pm; or Saturdays, June 7-July 5, 10:30am; 45-minute class for 5 weeks

Music Theory Without Fear!

Who said music theory has to give you a headache? Music theory can be fun, and this lively, interactive course for beginning theory students shows you how to read, write, and understand music theory without breaking into a sweat. This is the perfect course for aspiring singers, instrumentalists, composers, songwriters, and all who are passionate about music and want to acquire a solid grasp of music theory in a short period of time. From scales to chords to simple instrumental and choral arranging-this dynamic course teaches you everything you need to unlock the musical ideas in your head and get them down on paper using traditional and contemporary notation systems. No previous theory knowledge required. Excellent college preparation or review course! Registrations received on first come/first served basis. International Fiddle School

Week-long program where participants study with the masters of Bluegrass, Irish, Scottish, Old-time, Texas Contest, Swing, Jazz and Rock. All ages and levels welcome.
