Principal bassoon, Nashville Symphony since 1975; Aspen Chamber Symphony, 1975-77; Festival der Zukunft, Switzerland. Peninsula Music Festival Orchestra, 1977-86. JANET EPSTEIN Adjunct Artist Teacher of Recorder

Flute student of Janet Bergman, Chicago; Harry Houdeshel and James Pellerite, Bloomington, Indiana; Jane Kirchner, Nashville. Established recorder program in Chickasha, Oklahoma as VISTA volunteer. Taught classroom music, recorder at Akiva School. Directed the St. Cecilia Academy Glee Club. Taught music, directed band at Greater Nashville Junior Academy. Taught flute at Trevecca College and Fisk University. Taught recorder through Dr. Gerald Moore at David Lipscomb University. Has been member of Nashville Symphony Chorus, Nashville Recorder Consort, Klezmer Trio, As You Like It, and Vanderbilt Chorus. Is presently member of Centennial Recorder Consort and Mon Ami (early music ensemble). Toured Sweden as visiting member of Cantabile Chamber Chorale of Piscataway, NJ, summer, 2005. Attended American Recorder Society Conference, Regis University, Denver, July, 2005. Coordinated international folk dance performance at David Lipscomb University, April, 2006. Organized recorder workshop at Blair with Letitia Berlin, May, 2006. Organized Parthenon Recorder Concerts, December, 2006 and April, 2007. Student of James Caldwell, Daniel Stolper, Robert Atherholt, Alex Klein, Harry Sargous, Mark duBois, and Robert Sorton. Faculty: Hot Springs Music Festival (AR), Interlochen Center for the Arts. Former faculty: Lynn Conservatory of Music, Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam, University of Central Florida. Former principal oboe: Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, Palm Beach Opera; guest principal Houston Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Camerata Ducale (Turin). Other orchestral credits include performing with the Naples Philharmonic, Florida Orchestra, Michigan Opera Theater and New World Symphony among others. Soloist: Bournemouth Symphonette, Hot Springs Music Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Northern New York, Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Prizewinner: 2001 Isle of Wight International Oboe, 2000 Detroit Symphony Orchestra Bradlin Competition. Recordings for Blue Griffin Records, AUR, Koch International, Phoenix; broadcasts on NPR "Performance Today", CBC/Radio Canada, BBC Radio 3. Member of the Blair Woodwind Quintet. Student of Don Cassel; master classes with Sigurd Rascher, Sir David Willcocks, and William Mathias; coaching with Neal Ramsay. Performances throughout the South and Midwest. Opryland U.S.A., 1971-84, 1989. Numerous performances on radio and television. Appearances with Bob Hope, Les and Larry Elgart, Liberace, and Billy Vaughn. Clinician and adjudicator throughout the South. Choral conducting, studio and television recording.
