To find out what comes next, take Survey of Orchestral Music (MUSL 144). This course will introduce you to symphonies ranging in time from the origins of the genre (works that precede the masterpieces of "Papa" Haydn, the father of the symphony) to its most recent manifestation in pre-twenty-first-century America. If you love Beethoven's Fifth, Mahler's First, Mozart's Jupiter, or Stravinsky's Rite of Spring, or wonder why so many other folks do, this is definitely the course for you!
