A graduate of Northwestern University, Mr. Borden studied trombone with Frank Crisafulli (Chicago Symphony), Ardash Marderosian (Lyic Opera), and Louis VanHaney). He has recently completed work on a Masters of Science degree in Teaching and Learning at Vanderbilt. As a performer he has not only played in the NSO, but also performed in the brass quintet, Sonus Brass, which has toured and taught in the U.S., Taiwan, and Venezuela. In demand as a researcher and teacher, Borden has presented lectures and concerts in Canada, Taiwan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Holland, as well as in many Colleges and Universities in the U.S. He continues to explore methods of integrating a variety of technologies into music instruction in ways that will ultimately help students to learn more quickly. Lawrence also teaches courses in Music Cognition at the Blair School and now looks forward to many productive years of performances as a member of the newly formed Blair Brass Quintet.
