Basilio Huaylas

The Peruvian giant Basilio Huaylas, "a native of the province of Castro-Verreyna, aged twenty-four years... His height is seven Castilian feet, two inches, and a few lines... the total weight of his body is fourteen arrobas and a half, or three hundred and sixty-two pounds... He eats moderately, and less than the greater part of the multitude of sensualists who inhabit Lima."

From Joseph Skinner, The Present State of Peru, 1805. Vanderbilt University Libraries, Special Collections.
