Ph.D. North Carolina (Chapel Hill, 1967).
Centennial Professor Emeritus of Spanish (retired June
2000). My research comprises essays and books on Spanish and
Spanish American literature (colonial, nineteenth century,
and contemporary). I have also written on comparative
aesthetics (interrelations of the arts). I held
visiting professorships at the Universities of
Santander, Valladolid, Indiana University, Oxford, and
Antwerp. I have been awarded several national and
international research fellowships. |
