The Vanderbilt University Department of Spanish and Portuguese offers a wide range of courses in Hispanic and Luso-Brasilian studies. Students are encouraged to pursue a combined course of study drawing on the many strengths of the University. Related work may be taken in such fields as literary theory,linguistics, drama, or comparative literature. Close cooperation with Vanderbilt's Center for Latin American and Iberian Studies offers unusual opportunities for graduate study. Teaching assistantships and honor scholarships are available. Teaching assistants teach one course per semester.
