As Director of the Language Center, my principal interests relate to the impact of technology on second language acquisition. Not only am I interested in the creation and use of innovative language-learning courseware, but I am also concerned with issues regarding implementation and effectiveness in teaching and learning. I came to Vanderbilt in 1996. Since then, my principal concern has been the renovation and repurposing of our language laboratory facilities. We finished the renovation of the facility in August of 1997. Stop by our homepage (click here). My next challenge is to work with the faculty, staff and students in five language departments on curricular innovations involving the use of technology. This should prove to be a very difficult task. I have a strong secondary interest in Spanish for Business, and I teach this course in the Department. When I am not busy in the Language Center or in the Department, I like to travel to Colombia or Spain.
