The Research Library sponsored by the Harvard School of Public Health
offers networking and exchange of perspectives on gender, rights
and reproductive health issues by providing interactive electronic
forums, global discussions, distributes reproductive health and
rights materials from a variety of perspectives.
Johns Hopkins AIDS Service
Johns Hopkins supports a web site of news, expert Q&A, publications,

Institute of Allergy and Infections Diseases (NIAID) Division of
AIDS
The Division's mission is to increase basic knowledge of the pathogenesis,
natural history, and transmission of HIV disease and to support
research that promotes progress in its detection, treatment, and
prevention. DAIDS accomplishes this through planning, implementing,
managing, and evaluating programs in (1) fundamental basic research,
(2) discovery and development of therapies for HIV infection and
its complications, and (3) discovery and development of vaccines
and other prevention strategies.

UNAIDS leads, strengthens, and supports an expanded response aimed
at preventing the transmission of HIV, providing care and support,
reducing the vulnerability of individuals and, communities to HIV/AIDS,
and alleviating the impact of the epidemic. Contains epidemiological
reports, global HIV/AIDS surveillances by country, downloadable
epidemiological software, publications, and conferences.
The Body: Religion

An AIDS and HIV resource sponsored by Body Health Resources Corporation
with the mission to: use the Web to lower barriers between patients
and clinicians, demystify HIV/AIDS and its treatment, improve patients'
quality of life and foster community through human connection. Offers
listing of articles and relating to religion and AIDS.

Institutes of Health: Office of AIDS Research
The NIH Office of AIDS Research (OAR) is located within the Office
of the Director of NIH and is responsible for the scientific, budgetary,
legislative, and policy elements of the NIH AIDS research program.
Site includes recent releases, the NIH plan for HIV-related research,
reports from meetings, treatment guidelines, and information from
the NIH AIDS Research Program Evaluation Task Force.

Site's resources include National AIDS Ministry Database, on-line
Newsletter, On-line Articles and Press Clippings, Action Alerts
and Policy Issues, Publications and Speakers Bureau.
The
Episcopal Public Policy Network
The Episcopal Public Policy Network (EPPN) is a nationwide grassroots
network of Episcopalians who call and write their members of Congress
and the Administration to advocate positions of the Church. Members
of the EPPN receive policy alerts updating them on what is happening
in Washington, the Churchís position on public policies,
and techniques and information on contacting their government leaders.
EPPN members also receive a congressional directory and action guide,
legislative updates and newsletters, training in advocacy methods,
online resources, sample letters, and connection to state level
EPPNs. Site contains a number of article on HIV/AIDS in Africa.

Samaritan's Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization
chaired by Franklin Graham which provides spiritual and physical

AllAfrica Global Media is a multi-media content service provider,
systems technology developer and the largest electronic distributor
of African news and information worldwide. AllAfrica.com aggregates,
produces and distributes news from across Africa. The site also
contains a 400,000-article searchable archive which includes the
archive of Africa News Service dating from 1997.
Nashville CARES
Nashville CARES is Tennessee's leading community-based AIDS service
organization. Its mission is to promote and participate in a comprehensive
and compassionate response to HIV and AIDS infection through education,
advocacy, and supportive services. There is no charge for any service.
The Global AIDS Alliance
The GAA is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC. dedicated
to a collaborative, aggressive Campaign to Stop Global AIDS. The
Alliance aims is to hasten an end to the global AIDS crisis by campaigning
for more money to fight the disease and reliable access to affordable
medication for all those living with AIDS. They are committed to
deeper, fairer debt cancellation for impoverished countries.

medical assistance to populations in danger in more than 80 countries.

Hope for African
Children Initiative
The Initiative is a community-based, pan-African effort created
to address the enormous challenges faced by more the 13 million
children who have been orphaned by the AIDS pandemic in Africa and
the millions more whose parents are sick or dying of AIDS-related
illnesses. The Initiative's partnership brings together five organizations
that share an international focus--CARE, Plan International, World
Conference on Religion and Peace, Save the Children and the Society
of Women and AIDS in Africa with the communities to provide care,
services and assistance to children affected by HIV/AIDS and their
families.
African Development
Forum
The African Development Forum (ADF) is an initiative led by the
Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) to establish an African-driven
development agenda that reflects consensus among major partners
and that leads to specific programmes for country implementation.
In 2000 ADF's theme was "AIDS: the Greatest Leadership Challenge."
The goal of the Forum is to serve as a launching pad for a new level
of commitment and action against HIV/AIDS as a major threat to the
development of the continent.

The GBC provides leadership on the positive impact business practice
can have in fighting the disease, by combining advocacy, policy
development and grassroots action with member companies and other
stakeholders.

Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is dedicated to improving people's
lives by sharing advances in health and learning with the global
community. The foundation was created through the merger of the
Gates Learning Foundation, which focused on expanding access to
technology through public libraries, and the William H. Gates Foundation,
which focused on improving global health. The Seattle based foundation
has an endowment of approximately $23.8 billion.

The Institute is an independent, nonpartisan federal institution
created and funded by Congress to strengthen the nation's capacity
to promote the peaceful resolution of international conflict. The
Special Initiative on Religion, Ethics and Human Rights (REHR) was
established by the Institute of Peace to explore the significance
of religion and ideology as both a source of conflict and a source
of peace. Special attention is given to the religious aspects of
ethnic identity, the close link between nationalism and ideological
and religious beliefs, and the human rights tradition as a guarantor
of the freedom of conscience.
