    Serials

All or most of the serials are on standing order (SO) which means that the library will receive each volume as it is published. Because titles are generally classed separately they will have to be located in different sections in the library. An important reason for their inclusion in this bibliography is to inspire students to become familiar with the program and slant of a particular series and to keep it mind as a probable venue for their own work.

Abhandlungen zur Theologie des Alten und Neuen Testaments (ATANT).
Published in Zurich, this series, which is almost entirely in German, covers both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament.

    Analecta Biblica (AnBib).
Monographs in this series cover the broad area of Biblical Studies. Titles are in English, German, French, or Italian.

Arbeiten zur Geschichte des antiken Judentums und des Urchristentums (AGJU).
Published in Leiden by E. J. Brill this series is perhaps dormant with the last volume (15) appearing way back in 1978.

    Arbeiten zur neutestamentlichen Textforschung (ANTF).
All 15 volumes of this series out of Berlin are in German and are of particular interest to students interested in textual criticism of the NT in Greek and Coptic.

Aufstieg und Niedergang der Römischen Welt: Geschichte und Kultur Roms im Spiegel der neueren Forschung (ANRW).
This series, held in the Central Library, deals with various disciplines and the volumes that deal with religion are clearly marked on the spine. Many of the articles on religious subjects are the equivalent of full length monographs. Of particular importance for NT studies are those studies that address the literary conventions, culture, social and political milieu at the time of the early Christian movement.
    DG209 .T36 (CEN)

    Bibliotheca Ephemeridum Theologicarum Lovaniensium (BETL).
Published by the Catholic University in Louvain (Belgium), this series of over 100 titles is predominantly French, but there are a few in the area of NT that are in English.

Catholic Biblical Quarterly Monograph Series (CBQMS).
Now some 25 titles have been published, roughly evenly divided between themes on the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament.

Forschungen zur Religion und Literatur des Alten und Neuen Testaments (FRLANT).
More 150 titles have appeared predominantly in German. There are few titles in English.

Journal for the Study of the New Testament, Supplements (JSNTS).
There are over 50 titles the series; enter the series title to search for titles pertinent to your interest.

New Testament Tools and Studies (NTTS).
This series has just resumed after a lapse of some twenty years since the last volume appeared in 1970. There are about 14 volumes published. Areas covered are mainly textual and linguistic problems.

    Novum Testamentum Supplements (NovTSup).
Over 50 titles are in this continuing series; student should enter this title in acorn in order to locate titles that are relevant to particular needs. Series on SO.

Society for New Testament Studies Monographs Series (SNTSMS).
Over 50 titles are in this continuing series. N.B. Use series title to do an author search, not title search.

Society of Biblical Literature Dissertation Series (SBLDS).
This is the most important series for biblical studies in North America and all NT students should be familiar with the monographs pertinent to their area of emphasis.

Wissenschaftliche Untersuchungen zum Neuen Testament (WUNT).
The first series has more than 70 titles, while the second is now about 25. As might be expected German is the predominant language, but a total of some 20 have appeared in both series.
