Echinacea is taken in many different dosages, forms, and length of time. Natural Alternatives recommends 1 to 2 grams of dried root in the form of tea, 1 to 2 milliliters fluid extract, or 100 to 250 milligrams of solid dried powder. These doses are supposed to be taken three times daily. For best results in long-term use, it is recommended that Echinacea be taken for eight weeks followed by one week of discontinued use. For short-term results, Echinacea is claimed to work best if treatment is began at the first sign of infection and continued until all symptoms have deceased (http://gaylor-web.com/users/na/info/echinacea.htm).
