Physics 110B QUARKNET at Vanderbilt University

The fact that our knowledge is in fact universal is something that is not completely appreciated ... the world is so wonderful in the sense that stars are made of the same atoms as the cows and ourselves, and as stones.
-- Richard Feynman ( from a talk at the Galileo Symposium in Italy, 1964 )

ATTENTION QUARKNET 2003 TEACHERS: HERE ARE INSTRUCTIONS EXPLAINING WHERE AND WHEN TO MEET AT VANDERBILT ON MONDAY, JULY 7, 2003.

  1. Click here to get a map of the Vanderbilt Campus. Then click on Building List and scroll down until you find Stevenson Science Center. Click again and get an expanded view of the building you will be seeking. The physics department is located in the Stevenson Science Center.
  2. For the first day only, you will have to find a metered parking space on or near the campus. We recommend using spaces on Garland Avenue which have a limit of four hours.
  3. All rooms in the physics wing of the Stevenson Science Center begin with the number 6. The second digit in the room number is the floor level. We will meet in room 6911 at 9 am. Hence, 6911 means building 6, level 9 and room 11. Push 9 in the elevator to get to level 9, which is actually the 6th floor relative to the outside level.
  4. If you get lost or need further assistance, don't hesitate to phone Bob Panvini at the office (343-1780), at home (292-9122), or via email (robert.s.panvini@vanderbilt.edu).
  5. We will spend about an hour for orientation. You will be provided with reading material and a tentative schedule of events. We will arrange for you to receive parking permits and library cards. You will also be assigned office space.
