FASST Scholarships for Undergraduates
Students in their junior and senior years are eligible for scholarships. These scholarships provide stipends for students majoring in physics and related disciplines to carry out a Concentration in Astrophysics and to conduct supervised research. During the academic year, research is conducted with mentors at Fisk and Vanderbilt, including observational astrophysics using the SMARTS telescopes in Chile and development of high-energy solid-state detectors at the Fisk Center for Photonic Materials and Devices. During the summer, students have the opportunity to conduct research at Yale University, University of Wisconsin, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and other sites.
