Current Research
My new book has just been been published, entitled Women as Weapons of War: Iraq, Sex and the Media. There I analyze media images of women in the Iraq war, including the women involved in torture at Abu Ghraib and Guantánamo, Jessica Lynch, and women suicide bombers. One of my main arguments is that women are figured as both offensive and defensive weapons.

Currently, I am working on a book project on metaphors of animals and animality in the history of philosophy and contemporary Continental Philosophy. The main figures in that text will be Rousseau, Herder, Freud, Merleau-Ponty, Bergson, and Derrida.
