About me...

The student... I am a junior English major/Pyschology minor at Vanderbilt Univeristy. Within the English Department, I have a concentration in creative writing. Unfortunately, I am not currently in any creative writing courses, so I'm kind of rusty, but hopefully the hypertext fiction which will be appearing on this page soon will get my juices flowing.

Other Interesting Tid-Bits about me...

The 20 year old kid...I live in Mandeville, Louisiana - a growing community 30 minutes outside New Orleans [party capital of the world]. Mandeville's only separation from N.O. is lake Ponchatrain, but thanks to the longest bridge in the world [the causeway], the Big Easy is only 24 miles away. As corrupted and third-world as Louisiana is, Mandeville stands out as a great place to live. My family has been in Mandeville for almost eleven years!!! Before 1985, we resided in THE BEST city in the world: Houston, Texas. We lived in the city the first five years of my life, then moved to The Woodlands, which is 30-45 minutes outside downtown.

I always look forward to going home, because I haven't lived there full-time for almost five years now. After my sophomore year at Mandeville High School, I left for The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and Arts. For anyone who doesn't know what LSMSA is - its a residential high school which sophomores all over the state apply and interview for 200 available spaces in the junior class. LSMSA is on the campus of Northwestern Louisiana State University in Natchitoches [the town where the film "Steal Magnolis" was inspired and shot], and is similar to governor's schools and math/science academies in other states. All in all there are 11 of these state supported residential schools in the country [North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Maine, Illinois, Texas, New York, and others]. North Carolina initiated the first school, and Lousisiana followed their example by admitting their first class of 200 juniors in1983, though Louisiana was the first to apply an Arts curriculum. Though I've enjoyed my time here at Vandebrilt so far, it doesn't come close to the fun I had learning and living at LSMSA.

When I'm home I'm usually even more busy than when I'm at school, which is hard to believe. Besides catching up on sleep and cable television viewing, I always get together with Mandeville friends. Playing basketball, tennis, ping-pong, and ninetendo are our top priorities...Its a nice break from taking tests and writing papers. Unless my car is broken, like it is now, I usually visit LSMSA friends who live in N.O., Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Lake Charles, DeRidder, Ruston, Alexandria, and Natchitoches. In a one week span of visiting different LSMSA friends this summer, I drove more than 1200 miles [which might have something to do whith my car being broken now]!!!

More Interesting Tid-Bits about me...

The son and brother...My parents [Bill and Sandy] and sister [Kimsey] keep the home fires burning while I'm here in Nashville. My sister is a very popular and pretty fourteen year old at Mandeville Junior High. Despite her inherent blonde-ness, Kimsey aces almost every class AND still complains about having to live up to my standards. Lately, I've noticed her sarcasm level is coming close to surpassing my own. For some reason, this time honored trait is not appreciated as much at Vanderbilt, so I'm out of practice and Kimsey is catching up. Besides sarcasm, she likes boys, soccer, basketball, and blasting her stereo. My mom is a nurse at Greenbriar Psychiatric Hospital. Before being placed in charge of the geriatric unit, she was intermittantly bitten, kicked and bruised [by the patients not the family]. She likes going out to eat, reading, and falling asleep while reading. My dad is the manager of the N.O. branch of Right Associates, an international corporation. He likes sailing, classical music, and arts in general. As a whole they're pretty cool, though we're all really nosey and like butting into each other's business.

<- Take me home.
