The cyborgs who populate the genre of “feminist science fiction,” according to Haraway, undermine phallogocentric hegemony by problematizing, among other things, gender and racial identities and the distinctions between species.  She cites as an example, Samuel R. DelanyÂ’s Tales of Nevérÿon; a collection that “mocks stories of origin by redoing the neolithic revolution, replaying the founding moves of Western civilization to subvert their plausibility” (Haraway 178).
