OTHER SERVICES

A. DUPLICATION

All duplication services are subject to copyright restrictions and users will be required to provide legal permission and to sign a release of liability. The turnaround time for duplication is based on the amount of technician time involved. Our minimum turnaround time is 48 hours for simple duplication. More complex duplications will require more time.

1. Blank media (when available)

2. Video duplication

Please note that regular VHS tapes can be recorded at 3 different speeds. The

quality of the slower speeds is noticeably inferior. Also note that most foreign

countries do not use the American standard. The American system is NTSC;

the other systems are PAL and SECAM.

VHS-C to VHS (sp) $ 5 plus the blank tape

NTSC VHS to NTSC VHS $5 plus the blank tape

VHS NTSC-PAL; PAL-NTSC $10 plus the blank tape

3. CD duplication

CD to CD $2 plus the blank CD

Media files to CD $5 plus the blank CD

Cassette to CD* $5 plus the blank tape

*For a transfer of an entire cassette side. Individual tracks can be

transferred but cost is figured on technician time at $20 per hour.

4. DVD duplication

DVD to DVD (if not copy protected) $5 plus the blank DVD

Additional copies $1 plus the cost of blank DVD

DVD to DVD (copy protected, must have release) $10 plus blank DVD

Additional $1 plus the cost of blank DVD

MiniDV or VHS to DVD $5 plus the blank DVD

DVD to VHS or MiniDV $5 plus the blank DVD

DVD duplication with NTSC-PAL, PAL-NTSC or zone conversion $10 plus the blank DVD

DVD authoring $20 per hour

5. Audio duplication

Cassette to cassette $2 plus the blank cassette

6. Film to videotape transfer (16mm film only)

Transfer charge $.03 per foot plus blank tape

There is a minimum charge of $20. If a film must be viewed, rewound,

edited, repaired or transferred to different reels, there will be an additional

charge.

B. PRODUCTION SERVICES

1. Video editing

The LRC has several systems available for editing with Final Cut Pro. If

you are unfamiliar with editing we can give you basic instruction for no

charge during your scheduled edit time. If you need additional technical

assistance technicians are usually available to assist for an additional

$20 per hour. There is no charge for projects related to Arts and Science

Classes. The charge for projects not related to A&S classes is $10 per

hour. The equipment is only available for Vanderbilt faculty, staff and

students.

2. Audiotaping (service available only to A&S)

Audiotaping is restricted to locations on the main campus and there is

a 2 week notice required for this service. There is no charge for taping

related to A&S classes. Persons requesting this service are responsible for

obtaining any necessary permission.

3. Videotaping (service available only to A&S)

Videotaping is restricted to locations on the main campus and there is

a 2 week notice required for this service. There is no charge for taping

related to A&S classes. Persons requesting this service are responsible for

obtaining any necessary permission.

4. Scanning

The LRC can scan either 35mm slides, negatives or flat art

(up to 8 ½ x 11). All scanning is done by LRC full time staff. You must

provide some form of media to store your scanned work or, depending on

file size, we can email it to you. This service is subject to copyright

restrictions. There is no charge for scanning projects related to Arts and

Science courses. Scanning $20 per hour.

5. Videoconferencing

We are able to provide connections with multiple sites to allow teachers and

and lecturers to be brought into classes from around the world. We are able

to share people, as well, as, content: VHS, DVD, Powerpoint etc. We require

1-2 weeks notice prior to the event and contact information for the far site. This

service is available only for conferencing related to the formal academic program of

the College of Arts & Science.

6. Technicans

Can be scheduled when available for $20.00 per hour.
