Madeline Dukes
Madeline J. Dukes

I grew up in Yacolt, WA, a small town located twenty miles north of Mt. Saint Helens. One of the unique aspects of my upbringing is that my parents home schooled me from kindergarten through high school which allowed me to tailor the curricula to my interests-especially chemistry. After graduating high school I attended Charleston Southern University where I received a B.S. in Chemistry with a minor in mathematics in 2005. I joinexd Dr. Bornhop's research group during my first year at Vanderbilt University.

I was born and raised in Maryland, just outside of Baltimore, where most of my family still lives. I received my BS in chemistry from Villa Julie College in 2003 and joined the Bornhop group in 2004 after my first semester at Vanderbilt University. When not in the lab, I am spending time with my pets, Maverick, a German shepherd, and Squire, a quarter horse. I have been riding horses since I was seven and have had my horse for over nine years now.

I was born in Orlando, Florida but I've called Ann Arbor, Cincinnati, Lousiville and Asheville home as well. I earned a B.S. in Chemistry with ACS certification in 2008 from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. When I am not in the lab you can either find me on the river or on the ski slopes, depending on the season. When weather prohibits me from being outside I enjoy tinkering with my custom motorcycle, a 2 year project that I completed in 2007.
