 Vanderbilt
Chemistry boasts a medium-sized department combined with outstanding,
state-of-the-art facilities. The program is comprised of 58 undergraduates,
123 graduate students, 31 post-docs, and 24 faculty; all of whom benefit
extensively from interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaborations.
Here at Vanderbilt it is essential for us to create a personalized program enabling the students to flourish academically though the use of the school’s vast resources. The program exposes its members to interdisciplinary research and education with some of the premier institutes, such as CBI, CSB, VINSE, VICB, VIIBRE and the Center in Molecular Toxicology.
 In 2009 alone, external funding was in excess of 10.3 million dollars from an array of organizations, institutes, and companies; allowing for the growth of professional relationships amongst the members of the Vanderbilt community and other leading scientists and researchers both nationally and internationally.
The program cultivates personal relationships as well through its annual picnics and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners (which leave the mind and the stomach full), along with the various co-recreational athletic teams.
Combine all of these features with innovative research ideas and you have the formula for success.
