FINAL EXAM DECEMBER 17 (9:00 a.m.)

Assistant:  Yang Junhai (Room SC7610).
Problem Assignments: Distributed weekly but not collected or graded. Answers and solutions will be provided, on this Web site. Collaboration among students is strongly encouraged.
Quizzes: Given weekly on Fridays, except on exam dates. Intended to cover the weekly problem assignments. Lowest two scores dropped.
Exams: No makeups. For excused absences, the final exam score will be substituted for the missed exam. This may be done for at most one hour exam; and except for extreme circumstances, excuses must be cleared in advance. Otherwise a missed exam will be scored as zero.
All quizzes and exams (including the Final) will be closed-book, but you may bring one 8.5x11" sheet of notes (on both sides) to the exams (but not the quizzes).
Final Exam: About 1/4 on material covered after the second exam. No alternate. A missed final exam will be scored as zero unless the student has secured an excuse for the absence from the dean of his or her college. In the latter case a grade of M will be given for the course, if the student could have passed by taking the final exam; and the student must take a makeup exam early in the following term.
Grade Computation: Quizzes (1/3); Hour exams (1/3); Final (1/3). Final grades will be assigned on the basis of absolute point scores, assuming a nominal total of 600:   A   520
  A-    495            B+    470            B     445            B-    420           C+    400
  C      380           C-     360            D+    340           D      320          D-     300
Vanderbilt Honor Code: In effect for all exams and quizzes. Students will be expected to write and sign the following on each exam or quiz: "I pledge my honor that I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this (quiz/exam)."
