Deposit and Decline Reports: Shoe Officially on the Other Foot

Posted by on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in I've been admitted - now what?, Nashville, Vanderbilt in Pop Culture.

I had mentioned on this blog before that the time will come when us admissions folks will wait on your decisions. That time has officially arrived. We actually received our first response card on Monday believe it or not.  Our office gets a daily report of all the students who turn in their response cards, who deposited (yea) and who declined – including where they are going instead (which most students tell us on their reply card). While we are truly happy for the students not picking Vandy that they found a great college home elsewhere, we are, by nature, competitive people. I think most people in admissions are that way.

One decision I’ll be watching is actually from a person who doesn’t exist in real life.  If you’ve been watching Friday Night Lights, you know that Vanderbilt is the character Lyla Garrity’s dream school.  My good friends over at BlogVU have been tweeting with FNL’s Garrity (the character, not the actress) to do their part to recruit her to Nashville.  Quite funny.

Waitlist info will be coming soon, so hang tight.

I’ve been wondering about the FNL situation with Lyla – okay, she got her
letter of admittance in the fall (during football season, before Christmas).
Does this not mean that she applied ED? And if so, then she is in a hard
position to say that she is not attending….

    Hi Thom

We are excited and joyous at our son being accepted for Class of 2013.

    THANK YOU!!

To tell you the truth, your blogs helped significantly to alleviate the stress of the waiting and anticipation all these days. Thank you.

We really appreciate the hard work and efforts from the entire admissions and financial aid teams – we can see that you guys put your hearts and souls into this – knowing that your work impacts the future of so many aspiring young lives must be a very stressful but rewarding experience. I hope the students really appreciate and respect you for that.

We were planning on coming for a tour this saturday – but it seems that all spaces are taken. Any chance that we can come by and have someone take us around? We will be a family of four – 1 17 yr old nerd and three of his most ardent fans. This Saturday will be the only day that will be possible for us to make it to Nashville. Please let us know by response or by email that is entered above.

    Thanks, once again

    Best Regards
    Vish Goda

Friday Night Lights spoiler: Lyla decides to go to Vanderbilt! The season’s already aired on DirectTV, so I know the ending, but I was ecstatic when I found out! Any chance they’ll be filming on campus?
