Prospective Students Programs
Black & Gold Days
Every spring and early summer, the Office of Undergraduate Admissions sponsors five open houses known as Black & Gold Days. These events are geared toward sophomores and juniors in high school who are just beginning their college search process.
Students and their families attend sessions discussing cost, affordability and financial aid, and how to prepare for the college admissions process. A catered lunch, student speakers, campus entertainment, student organization fair, and a student–led walking tour of campus are also part of this daylong experience.
Group Visits
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions schedules special sessions and tours for groups of five or more high school students. These visits are available weekdays throughout the year, except for campus holidays.
Campus tours for groups are available twice a day at 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. CST. Groups may also schedule an optional information session with an admissions officer that begins 30 minutes prior to the tour (8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. CST respectively).
Reservations for group visits must be made at least two weeks in advance. Groups are scheduled on a first–come, first–served basis. Please note that due to high demand for group visits, our office cannot accommodate students below high school age. To schedule your group, please call Harper Haynes at 615.343-8285 or John Nesbitt at 615.322.0864
Groups traveling to campus by bus can be dropped off at the Office of Undergraduate Admissions (2305 West End Avenue). Bus parking is available on campus in Lot 74A. Click here for a map.

‘Dore for a Day
This is your chance to spend a day on campus “shadowing” a current Vanderbilt student. The prospective student meets their Vanderbilt host in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 12:30 pm CST on the day of the visit.
A voucher for lunch on campus will be provided. The host will dine with the student on campus, then escort the prospective student to one or two classes and spend time with the student exploring areas of interest on campus. Prospective students should plan to be on campus until about 4 p.m. CST.
This program is available Monday through Friday, from January to mid–April, when classes are in session. ‘Dore for a Day is open to current juniors and seniors in high school; the month of April is reserved for admitted seniors only.
Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at least two weeks before your visit to Vanderbilt to reserve your space in this program. Reservations will be confirmed on a space–available basis.
