Blair School of Music / Honors

The honors program in music literature and history affords superior students the opportunity to pursue more intensive work within the field of musicology or ethnomusicology, culminating in the preparation of a senior honors thesis.  The course of study includes seminar work, independent study, and writing under the supervision of a thesis adviser.

Students who want to do all honors work should contact the chair of the musicology department in the fall of their junior year. Minimum requirements are a 3.0 GPA overall and 3.3 in music literature and history courses. Those enrolled in the program that successfully complete its requirements may graduate with Honors or High Honors in music literature and history.
