Marie T. Mora

Marie T. Mora PortraitMarie T. Mora is Professor of Economics at The University of Texas – Pan American (UTPA), and as of November 2007, its MBA Program Director. Prior to joining UTPA in 2002, she was a tenured faculty member at New Mexico State University. Her primary research interests are in labor economics, particularly in the areas of Hispanic labor-market outcomes, the economics of language, and the economics of the U.S.-Mexico border. Mora is currently serving a two-year term as President of the American Society of Hispanic Economists (ASHE)—a position she has held since October 2006. She also serves on the Editorial Board of the Social Science Quarterly, and is a member of the National Advisory Board for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at the University of New Mexico. Mora has published over 25 refereed journal articles since 1997, and she has received several teaching awards, including three appearances in Who’s Who among America’s Teachers. Mora holds a Ph.D. in economics from Texas A&M University, and B.A. and M.A. degrees in economics from the University of New Mexico, located in her home town of Albuquerque.
